HISC Mark Laying Course

RYA Powerboat Level 2 certificate is preferable but not essential.

This is a one day introduction to working on a race course in the harbour or Hayling Bay.
No previous knowledge is necessary and the candidates will by the close of play have an understanding of the various types and shapes of race course and the skills necessary to be able to successfully lay the marks for the course.

Topics covered: Duties of the Mark Layer, Area of Operation, Anchoring, Equipment Used, Race Course Configuration, Basic VHF Communications, Basic GPS. Distance & Bearing, Towing & Streaming Race Marks, Recovering Race Marks.
