Brown-Tail Moth Caterpillars

It’s the season for the caterpillars of the Brown-tail Moth to come out of their cocoons.

If you or your children see one, please be sure not to touch it because they cause skin irritations and can, in some cases, breathing difficulties.

The moths are native to Britain and the caterpillars are black and hairy with red and white markings, so they are quite distinctive.
