Ladies who Lunch and Social Sailing - 21st February Review

A big thank you to all who came to the talk by the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance last Friday! It was lovely to see the club this busy at lunchtime and that their presentation was so well received – as were indeed the Tombola and the Auction!

Together we managed to raise a staggering £2,527!

Natalie from the HIOWAA said that this was the most they had ever received at similar events and that it 'will be so appreciated by the next family who make that desperate call for help’. Accidents occur all the time, as indeed happened to Kim Clinkscales, a previous member of HISC, when he fell off scaffolding and had to be flown to Southampton Hospital with life-threatening spinal injuries!

A big thank you also goes to the staff at HISC who ensured that everything went smoothly: from the friendly bar staff who were doubly busy with visitors paying for their food there, the kitchen staff for preparing and serving tasty food well presented, the tables were laid perfectly and the technical equipment was ready and working! Well done, much appreciated! And last, but not least everybody else, but in particular Delia Clarke, Rosy and Graham Raines and David Nicholls, who helped make it such a success!
And of course, to Angie Driscoll, who made it all happen and even managed to make lots of tasty canapés!

Oh, and if you have not had the chance but would like to still donate, you can do so here.

And please remember, our next - and last for this season - event will be on Friday, 14th March 2025 at 12 noon (a week earlier than previously advertised) when we join John & Michelle for an honest chat about EV ownership, the challenges and the transition to electric transportation. And did the dream of The Long Free Ride with Tesla paying the fuel bill work out? Do come and find out!
