Social Sailing Update
The Social Sailing Section of the Club cruiser group held their first rally over the weekend of 9, 10 and 11 May with a return to HISC on the Monday. Thirteen boats joined the event at Bembridge with the first evening socialising along with welcome drinks provided by David Dodgson - the event organiser. Saturday was a pleasant sunny day when individual arrangements for walks and visits were made with the day concluding with a BBQ attended by thirty Members.
Chimet recorded 25 Knots of wind from the East at 10.00 hours on Sunday as the fleet left Bembridge for a fresh sail to Cowes. All arrived at Cowes in one piece, excepting for yours truly where, on a gybe, the lazy jacks collapsed. However these were readily repaired by a helpful rigger. The Cowes evening gave an opportunity to finish the wine and express appreciation to David - supported by Ann - for an enjoyable first of the season sailing event".
The next event provides an opportunity for both sailors and those Members who have retired from sailing to meet at the Deck House, Emsworth Marina on Thursday 22 May at 12.30 hours for lunch. Eleven bookings have already been made and Members interested should contact the organiser: Terry McMahon to save a table.
After that, on 18th June, Viv and Ann Williams are providing a BBQ at their Emsworth home. Details will shortly be circulated.
The next sailing event is organised by David Archer for 8, 9 and 10 July with visits to Haslar and Yarmouth. This is followed by Tony Button arranging a rally to The Folly and Lymington for 6, 7 and 8 September. Again full details along with other activities being organised will soon be circulated.
Club cruiser Members who are not also Social Sailing Members are encouraged to become involved with the group of which there are over 100 members. A small contribution of just £5.00 is required in payment for event costs. For further details and information on the full summer programme Members are welcome to contact me.
