Additional Information
Weeks Aims
The weeks aims are to work towards the children’s next stage of the RYA Sailing Scheme. The whole week the emphasis will be on fun!
Larger groups can and will be split depending on ability and cohesion with other members. Your children will be part of a group where the instructor must provide instruction equally to everyone. It’s important to recognise that if you child hasn’t sailed for some time, they might need to re-cover skills that they have done in the past.
Challenge by Choice
Instructors will be briefed to work with a challenge by choice policy - they will do everything to persuade people to go sailing but they will not force anyone to do something they are not happy with. At Hayling Island Sailing Club we want to promote a positive, happy relationship with sailing.
Foul Weather Plan
If conditions are obviously too bad to sail and this can be seen clearly in advance - a whole day may be cancelled and a partial refund given. In the event of bad weather for part of the day resulting in unsuitable sailing the instructors will work with the students on sailing activities on land.
Lower Group Bookings
To avoid disappointment, groups with lower bookings will be merged with other groups working at a similar level. This might mean groups will be mixed craft i.e. teras/opis.
