The racing classes at HISC . . .
There are many active classes at the club, including four Youth classes, which provide whatever style of sailing a member may wish to choose from una rig single hander to twin trapeze asymmetric to keel boat.
Class Captains
Fireball
An exciting two-person trapeze boat. The Fireball has a long association with HISC, with the prototype trials here in 1962.
Flying 15
Flying Fifteens have been at Hayling since the 50s. We have 21 boats, many of which represent HISC very well at nationals and world events.
Europe
A growing fleet at HISC, the Europe dinghies race in the Slow Handicap fleet, including Pennant weekend racing in the bay and sprint racing within the harbour.
Int Moth
The HISC fleet has been in the forefront of the foiling revolution. There are approximately 20 Moths registered at HISC.
ILCA / Laser
HISC has a growing number of ILCA / Laser sailors, with a blend of youth and senior sailors.
Merlin Rocket
The Merlin Rocket is ideally suited to racing in Chichester Harbour and Hayling Bay. The class history at HISC dates back all the way to the first nationals in 1946.
RS200
HISC is home to the largest fleet of RS200s on the globe and our sailors regularly compete for the top spots at the nationals.
RS700
The RS700 fleet was established at HISC twenty years ago when the class was first launched.
RS800
Hayling Island Sailing Club is the spiritual home of the RS800, the country’s most popular twin trapeze skiff.
RS Aero
The RS Aero re-sets the standard for pure exhilaration in a simple singlehander.
RS Elite
The HISC RS Elite fleet has grown into one of the most competitive keelboat fleets in the country.
Solo
The Solo is the largest fleet in the UK and the most active fleet in the club with average turnouts in double figures.
Tasar
The Tasar is a 4.5m high performance sailing dinghy and HISC recently hosted the world championships.
Finn
The ex-Olympic single hander is experiencing a resurgence in popularity and we welcome this new HISC fleet.
